The newest addition to the fleet, Battalion 40, 2015 Chevy 2500 4WD pickup, gives the officer on duty (normally the Chief or Assistant Chief) fast-response capability to go directly to a scene. Battalion 40 was put in service in January 2016 and carries a full EMT kit and AED, as well as fire extinguishers, basic water rescue equipment and traffic cones, allowing for fast direct response by the officer on duty. It is also equipped with an accountability system, a full complement of radios and a mobile data terminal for access to the county CAD system, hazmat reference and EMS protocols, making it a fully equipped mobile command vehicle. Lighting for the truck was purchased from a local emergency lighting company and installed by department personnel in order to save cost.
