Former Township Trustee Richard “Dick” Cleaver Passes Away

Station 40 mourns with the family of former Richland Township Trustee Richard “Dick” Cleaver, who passed away at his home on Saturday, December 5. As Trustee from 1982 to 2014, Dick’s tireless work and remarkable stewardship are the primary reason that we are the department we are today, and his influence will continue to be felt for years to come.

Dick slipped away just hours before a planned procession past the Cleaver residence, but we continued as planned and made the trip in honor of his lifetime of service and in order to pay our respects to his wife Linda and other family members.

Farewell, Dick… we’ll miss you!

New website is live

You’re here, so you’ve obviously found it… the new website is live! There are still pages to be added, including pages for the rest of the trucks, about the truck companies and the ambulance company, and maybe even a message from the chief if we can get him to slow down long enough to write it. But the beginnings are here, so welcome! For the tech geeks, it’s running on the Genesis framework and should scale automatically to work with your desktop web browser, tablets and cell phones.

If there’s something you’d like to see on the website, reply here to let us know! We can’t promise to accommodate all requests, but we’ll listen and take them under consideration. You can also email info@richlandtownshipfire.com if you’d prefer to email rather than reply on the website.

Recruit Class 2016-1 Graduates!

On Thursday, November 17th, Station 40 hosted a graduation dinner for our new recruits and their families to celebrate the successful completion of Recruit Class 2016-1. This class, which included trainees from multiple stations, added seven new members to our ranks at RTVFD, two new members at Gaston VFD and one new member at Lafayette Township VFD. This class started in mid-October and ran through mid-November, with students completing roughly 132 hours of fire and hazmat training, combining classroom and hands-on practical training to prepare them to graduate as certified firefighters.

Congratulations to all of the recruits! The members at Station 40 are proud to have you join us and look forward to working with you as you continue in your fire service career!
